Last night we reported that the man, Hirofumi Watanabe, suspected for writing numerous threat letters to Kuroko’s Basketball‘s mangaka and various events for the series was arrested. Today some more details about his arrest came to light as the Mainichi Shimbun newspaper has released an English version of their report.
In the report the thirty six year old man stated to police that he was “jealous” of the success of the author. According to the report the suspect is not an acquaintance of the author and they do not have a clear motive for his threats. When Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested Watanabe his backpack contained twenty more threatening letters that he was prepared to mail out, including letters to threaten the upcoming Comiket as well as a high school basketball tournament.
