Today Sentai Filmworks announced a rather surprising anime license acquisition. The company announced that they now own the license to the Zettai Bouei Leviathan anime series which began airing this Spring anime season. They are planning on releasing the series sometime later this year under the series’ new name Leviathan: ~ The Last Defense ~.
This isn’t the first surprise license the company has made and with Anime Expo soon, we’ll likely hear a lot more from Sentai once the event kicks off. For those who don’t know, Zettai Bouei Leviathan is an anime adaptation of one of GREE’s mobile games in Japan. The story takes place in a fantasy world where a meteorite has unleashed evil creatures throughout the land. To defeat these creatures a fairy named Syrup has gathered three powerful girls to fight against these enemies. At the moment the series is currently being streamed on Crunchyroll.
