PlayStation Vita will be region-free

Sony PS Vita News

One of the biggest questions that people can have about a video game system is whether or not it is going to be region free. A few regions don’t get the same games as others, and a large amount of games never are even released out of Japan which disappoints some gamers as, although the language may be in Japanese they still want to be able to play the game without purchasing a Japanese Vita.

Well there is no need to worry as Sony Computer Entertainment president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida responded to a question on his twitter account concerning whether or not the PlayStation Vita would be region locked. To this Shuhei tweeted a simple “Yes, it is.” This means that for those unable to wait to play the Vita, they can purchase it from Japan and have it shipped overseas when it is released on December 17th in Japan rather than wait around like chumps for it to be released in the West.

As a big fan of anime and games I'll be quick to cover anything that happens to be of interest.

    Very nice.
While I probably won’t buy games from Japan since I like to know what’s going on, this means I can get games that are released in other English speaking countries.
I think it’s also really good news for people in Australia, since you won’t have to deal with games that are banned in your area.

    Good move Sony!!
