Nerdy Niches – Sugar Fix

Pop Culture News News Nerdy Niches

Welcome to the first of the weekly update of nerdy niches and today I’m looking at a wonderful candy store in the middle of the city.

Walking in the walk through to the Queen Victoria Building, me and my co-writer, Spike or Michael, came across this candy store and INSTANTLY had to go in. The store is filled with all kinds of candy imaginable, not only from our country but also from the UK and US, which ranged from every flavour jelly beans to something as weird as crunchy ice cream.  In the end we could not resist at least buying one or two things, even though we are supposed to be on diets.

Here is some helpful information:

What: Sugar Fix, an awesome candy store

Where: Westfield Sydney Central

  • Crunchy Ice cream
    • Which is freeze dried and in a packet (most of you know it as Dipin’ Dots) – MasterAbbott’s FAVOURITE ICE in the whole entire WORLD !!!

  • ZOMG Dippin’ Dots !! IM GOING TOMORROW TO GET ME SOME and some Dr Pepper as well !! Woo Hoo Nerdy/Geek food to the MAX !!

    • Cellophane Girl

Dippin’ Dots’ texture throws me off so badly. Though actually I’ve only had some off brand kind that they sell in the stores here. So that might be my problem. But I didn’t really care for them.

On the other hand I LOVE freeze dried ice cream. I used to get “astronaut” ice cream all the time at a science center close to where I live.

    …Wait what? Dippin Dots…

    I didn’t see those before… but I didn’t look in the freezers… Wait…

*runs off to go buy several litres*

    • Well if u do make sure u have a special freezer that can keep them safe at -46 degrees celcius !! Those little dots of goodness don’t last very long when they are out of the freezer or in a normal one

  • Cellophane Girl

Oh my. Just looking at those pictures made my blood sugar skyrocket. 😛

It all looks very good. I used to get those over sized “gobstoppers” (though we call them jawbreakers here) when I was a kid. I’d lick them until my tongue would bleed. Then I’d just put them in a plastic bag and beat it with a hammer until it was in more manageable pieces.

Nice article, can’t wait to read more “Nerdy Niches”. 😀

Also Twizzlers are my favorite candy EVER. Thank god they make a sugar-free version.
Well those and “ring pops” are my favorite. ^_^

  • I think I’m the only one who doesn’t know what Dippin’ Dots are. I feel like I’m missing out on something awesome here…

    • GO AND GET SOME DIPPIN DOTS DUDE !! You will never eat regular ice cream EVER again !!

    • Cellophane Girl

They are basically like flash frozen little dots of ice cream. They are pretty strange.
