Left 4 Deads Turtle Rock studios signs with THQ

Californian based Turtle Rock studios, the company, who along with Valve were responsible for the Left 4 Dead franchise have signed a deal to bring THQ on board as publisher for a “new groundbreaking multiplayer” title. Danny Bilson of THQ studios, says the merger was in line with THQs mission to acquire the best artists and talent in the industry. He goes on to say “Turtle Rock Studios is responsible for one of the most original, critically acclaimed cooperative games of this generation, and we are incredibly excited to be working with them on their next project, which looks set to make a similar impact in the multiplayer space.”

Turtle Rock rocketed to fame and became well known amongst gaming circles through there association with the online phenomena that was Counter Strike. After Valve bought out the studio a few years ago it was disbanded but has consequently reformed. COO of Turtle Rock studios Phil Robb describes the project as the “most ambitious thing we’ve ever attempted”, and feels that THQ are the perfect partners to help them acieve their goals. He goes on to add ” that we plan to take first person shooters to a new level and cant wait to show off the new game in the months ahead.

With such major players involved this sounds like a massive project that could set a benchmark for online and multiplayer games to come. Lets keep a close eye on this one as it unfolds as it looks epic.
