Hyperdimension Neptunia will be getting a US release

RPG Playstation 3 News Anime News

Remember a long time ago when we mentioned something about a game being developed in Japan that happened to have characters that were human versions of the current console generation?  Well at that time there seemed to be little to no hope of the game actually receiving a release across the seas. That is until now, because Hyperdimension Neptunia will be coming to the US courtesy of NIS America.

NIS is bringing the PS3 exclusive game to US shores sometime in Spring of 2011. What makes this strategy RPG unique is the fact that the characters you play as are more or less video game consoles and companies made into fighters. The game itself will take place in the world of Gamindustri, where the players must fight monsters and the Aroire. NIS America has stated that they will be able to keep the integrity of the game alive with the various references to famous companies such as Idea Factory and Gust. Not sure about the rest of you but I’m amazed that this game is being localized, but pleasantly amazed.

You can catch a preview from the game below (Japanese Audio):

    Very interesting concept.

But, to be honest that looks like all the other obscure Japanese titles out there. Same artwork, same fighting styles.

To be fair I won’t judge a book by its cover though. It could be a great game, who knows.
