F.E.A.R. 3 produces horror from labor

The F.E.A.R. series has always derived it’s scares from spooky environments and creatures that spring out of nowhere, or seeing Alma walking along a hallway and suddenly disappearing, or attacking you out of nowhere. Well now that F.E.A.R. 3 is coming out shortly, the reality in which these attacks and occurrences happen now has a name; known as the “Almaverse.” But one interesting bit of addition as well, is that Alma is pregnant this time around.

And with her pregnancy she is about to give birth and is having contractions, which is extremely bad for the entire world. As Alma goes through child birth she emits giant waves of psychic energy which spawns monsters, causes unnatural phenomenon to occur and tears the landscape apart. There are times you will be fighting one enemy, only to have a contraction occur and cause your enemies to change into monsters, or force you to combat not only them, but another enemy as well.

Don’t expect these contractions to all happen at a set pace either. They are designed to happen randomly as one would expect during childbirth and will create a sense of constant uneasiness as players advance through a level. I can see how it would work well during single player or co-op; but the art director, Heinz Schuller, says that they plan to place the contraction waves inside of the multiplayer mode if they can. Not so sure how this could work, maybe transforming your player into something else during the match or causing chaos in the middle of the battlefield?

Expect more scares from Alma and her pregnancy sometime in the early 2011 for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
