Halo: Reach Beta info (Dates and Awards)

News has been traveling around the web and some not so pleasing information has surfaced surrounding the Halo: Reach Beta. Don’t get too depressed; however, dates and news of free awards are also abundant.

First comes the bad news, the beta starts May 3rd and ends May 19th. So, you have 17 days to get your hands on all the Halo goodness before it is ripped away from you until you are once again reunited in September.

Also, as you know, not all the playlists will be available at all times. Bungie will be turning off certain playlists and turning others on throughout the beta. According to the collection of sites you will start off with the “Arena mode” (4v4 ranked Team Slayer), a Free-For-All playlist and as well as some “Grab Bag” playlists. The more unique game modes will surface later in the beta, “Invasion” is planned around May 7th and “Generator Defense” pops out around May 14th.

Not all is bad news, well some people will enjoy the following bit at least. Anyone who plays at least one full game during the beta will be awarded a Halo: Reach beta avatar hoodie through halo waypoint. There will also be a “Halo Multiplayer Unlock Weekend” making all three Xbox 360 Halo titles (Halo: Wars, Halo: ODST, and Halo 3)  free to play online for all Xbox Live members, starting on May 14th at 9am PDT and ending the same time on May 17th.

Finally, if you own the ODST disc, there will be a beta introduction available on the disc tomorrow.

I hope to see you all in the battle field when the beta goes live, and hopefully you will see me before I kill you.
